round one - killers

blank state round one

[At some point during the night, you awaken.

Whatever unfortunate soul had been residing in this body is no longer conscious. You're in control now - a malicious spirit who preys on people's guilt, using it as a doorway into their minds. It doesn't matter whether their guilt is justified or not; as long as they carry it, they leave themselves open to your possession.

Fortunately for them, and unfortunately for you, your power is still quite weak. You can only control them for a certain amount of time at night; in the morning, they will wake up with no memories of your presence whatsoever. Luckily, a few hours is all you need to begin setting up what will hopefully be a permanent occupation of this body.

After all, you and seven others are the only people who know the secret behind this place: everyone here, back in their own world, is either dead or about to die.

However, there's still a chance that a few of you may be able to survive. While the cat isn't going to bother saving nearly thirty people from death, if there were a great deal less...well, it might be more open to that suggestion. But in order for that to happen, you and your fellow spirits must prove that you deserve to live more than the rest of the people here. If you manage to outnumber the innocents, you'll be able to completely rewrite the person you're currently possessing and take their place in their world.

Of course, with the cat in charge of which cases everyone will be reviewing, this may prove harder than you think....

As you leave your bedroom and enter the hallway, you'll find a black door that wasn't there before during the day. The door opens into a darkened room, where you can meet the other spirits and discuss who to kill.]

(OOC: Please read this page to find out how this will work!)

[this gets a thoughtful nod from Kaoru.]

You know, I think you may be right. A lot of them still had sympathy for her right to the very end too, didn't they...? I think yours was one of them.

Sympathy and rather terrified that their own dirty laundry might be the next to be aired.

Fear is a useful tool in it's own right.

That's sad, isn't it? [says the person who looks 100% amused and not sympathetic at all.] I wonder how long it might take for one of them to do something stupid out of self-preservation.

An utter tragedy. [Her callous tone would imply otherwise.]

The looming threat of death and fear tends to increase stupidity quite exponentially.

It's going to become a real frenzy the closer we get to succeeding. [which he says in a way that implies he's both amused and somewhat cross over it... it's a lot of hassle to deal with!]

Ah, well. We'll just have to keep an eye on the ones who are most proactive during trials...

How fortuitous for us that we're in control of quite a few bright minds.

Fortuitous is one way to put it. It seems fortune is already favoring us at least a little.

That's right. Mine is a real bleeding heart, after all! She probably won't be much trouble for us, she doesn't want to execute anybody.

Ah, that's lucky, too! Mine likes to pretend he's a bleeding heart, but he's ruthless... [but he waves a hand after that] His morals will make him less of a problem than some of the louder people who were entirely for Sayaka's execution. But there were fewer of those than I had expected...
