[Once again, you awaken in your host's body at some point during the night. While the innocents in your room continue sleeping deeply, you head out into the hallway and enter the darkened room, where your fellow spirits are already gathering.

Seven of you walked out of this room last week, and seven of you re-enter it now. Let's hope your next trials will be as successful. When you're ready, the boxes and lighter in the center of the room await. Who will be the next victim?]

[As you consider who to kill, all of you will be able to sense a strange presence surrounding some of the innocents here. The cat has begun to make its move. Every week, it will grant protection to the people it finds most useful or active in solving the cases. You can immediately detect who they are - if you try to kill someone under the cat's protection, you may find your case to be much easier to solve.

However, everything in this place must come at a price. For every person the cat grants protection to, it takes away from someone else. You know these names as well - if you kill someone who's been left vulnerable, your case could get a lot more complicated in your favor.]

Huhuhu... Now three of them are dead this week, and we haven't lost a single one of our own. Things are looking almost too easy.

Mm. Well. It's a little early to be getting cocky.

Have you considered a muzzle for your host? I think he'd benefit from one.

—Ah, but that's right. Gloating brings about bad luck, haven't you heard? ...Even though this week is worth a little gloating.

A muzzle? The girl he likes so much works well enough. ...For now. [His grin stretches a bit at that tell-tale pause.]

Amazing! You really did it!

Ja, however I doubt the same trick will work again.

We'll need to get creative.

Next week, I'm fairly sure I'll succeed in getting them not to vote.

You got very close this week. It wound up working out for us in the end anyway, but that was impressive, too.

I can't really take any credit. Mine is pretty genuine about wanting to "save" us.

That kind of earnestness is a big help. I bet her reaction would be priceless, if she learned that the only thing she's helping is us.

Yes, don't worry. My host tries to put on a good show, but as you saw, she's really the fragile kind of person. If you apply enough pressure, she'll completely fall apart.

That shouldn't be too hard to manage... Hopefully she'll be able to help us out a little more before that.

Not bad at all. Your host really knows how to act. [He chuckles.] Imagine how she'll feel when she realizes everything she's done will lead to you taking over her precious people.

[Centuries of experience absolving herself of blame and doing whatever it takes to extend her longevity... this spirit chose it's host well.]

It's not as if she'll have much say in the matter.

So... Who should we kill this time?

[he hums in thought and nods once after coming to an apparent conclusion.]

Kiryuin or Ellie, I think. Kiryuin would be a safe choice since she doesn't speak up much and Ellie would get a good reaction out of some people. [whoops sadism]

Ellie did open her cabinet this round. Her value as a future suspect has been compromised.

[souredsweet]

Only a little, at least. It's not like they know for sure which one out of the rest of you was guilty.

That's the unfortunate side-effect of having one of us win; if we kill off all the suspects this round, it'll become all too obvious who the real killer was! We can't let them sleep so easily.

[He sounds a little disappointed.]

We should kill someone they like.

[souredsweet]

Well, it's not like they can convict now her even if they do figure out that it was her, right? Not without a case, and that cat already said it would have trouble catching one of us twice. [SO GOOD JOB AUSTRIA you have basically secured your success!]

...But I would suggest Ellie again in that case, either way. She really endeared herself to a lot of people this time.

We could always kill Ritsu--nobody's going to suspect him either, but he doesn't have the added benefit of being potentially guilty like the girl.

I like him, though. He's so loud and shrill that he ends up distracting people from actually focusing on solving the case.

Huhuhu... He is rather amusing. Then...I don't know! Anybody is fine with me, as long as we get to kill.

[souredsweet]

That's a bloodthirsty thing to say, Malik-san! [he puts emphasis on the honorific in a way that mocks his host's falsely polite mannerisms, not even bothering to hide his amusement.]

Hm... I think I'll put my vote in for Ellie then, unless someone has a better suggestion.

What can I say? Me and my host share at least one thing in common this week! Keh... I'll wait to see what the others have to say about voting. I'm curious.

If the goal next time is to try to get away via a 'no vote,' killing a child may be the wrong the tactic. They won't be so forgiving of us. We should probably wait on killing sympathetic individuals.

Frau Kiryuin might be the better choice of your suggested two.

Well, it's true that she hasn't made many connections. That might be the way to go, huhu.

Fraulein Ellie may also be easier to convince to not vote, what with her age and already being under suspicion once.

Ah, that's a good point. She seems a little less sympathetic than some, but Gavin-san may be right; a person who's already had to go through that would probably be more willing to spare someone else...

The boxes cannot be damaged in any way save for the lighter in the center of the room that, when a consensus has been reached, will flick on just long enough to ignite a single box.]
