Setting

setting

When you arrive, the place you find yourself in is very barren and simple. The main floor is a sprawling area packed with cardboard boxes. There are a number of rooms connected to a winding hallway, but all of them, save one, are completely identical to one another and empty except for boxes.

central room

The central room is a wide space, approximately the size of a basketball court. Just like the rest of the first floor, the walls are a dull beige and the carpet a drab grey-brown. There is plenty of space to spread out in the room, although there are still clusters of cardboard boxes.

Against the wall are numerous file cabinets. All of them are locked. Some are unlabeled, but on some, your name or the name of others in your group have been typed on a plain white label stuck to the top drawer.

You could try asking for a key...?

Towards the front of the room is a large desk area. Next to the desk is a large box full of notebooks, pens, and pencils. There is a whiteboard hung near the desk, with markers and erasers placed nearby. On top of the desk is a powerful looking desktop computer. Of course, if you turn it on, it doesn't have much functionality. It doesn't have any standard programs, but when the cat releases a new hint or new information, it appears on a list on the computer screen. The computer can also show images of the crime scene as though projecting from a camera, and seems to have a running dictation software of everything said inside the central room once it's turned on. It is also possible to simply take notes.

There are two large flat screens in the central room now, which can project anything that appears on the computer. The computer can also manage to interface with any other computing software anyone else may have brought with them.

first floor

hallway

A door in the back of the central room leads to a hallway, although the hallway looks different from before. The walls are painted a cheery yellow, and hung on the wall are what look like windows. They are white and paneled, with clear grass that looks outside, each showing a different view - a pretty flowered field, a snowy mountain at sunset, a placid beach. Of course, while the view outside seems like it could be three dimension, there's a flat quality to it, more like a photograph, and everything is static and close to motionless. The view never changes.

At the end of the hallway is a staircase. You can either go down to the lower floor, or up to the higher floors.

kitchen

The first door on the right of the hallway leads into the kitchen. The kitchen is fairly spacious, with plenty of cabinet storage and counter space. The walls are a cheerful sky blue, and the tiles a tan and navy pattern. The cabinets are wood painted dark blue. Inside, you'll find numerous cooking applies and food. There is a large refrigerator and freezer, stocked with coca-cola, beer, bread, eggs, milk, whipped cream, heavy cream, chocolate, juice, plenty of fresh fish, fresh meats, cheeses, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Inside a refrigerator is also a tupperware labeled 'Norway' stocked with whole-wheat bread, brown cheese, and some more fish. a tupperware labeled 'Malik' stocked with koshary, and a tupperware labeled 'Yuyuko' stocked with octopus, wakame, and nori, and a tupperware labeled 'Maya' with several burgers inside. There is also a tupperware labeled 'Ty Lee' stocked with clams, duck meat, komodo chicken, and komodo rhino meat.

There is also an oven with a stovetop, a dishwasher, and a sink, and a small trash bin sitting out, and on the counter there is a coffee brewer, a hand grinder, and a jar full of coffee beans.

In the cabinets below the countertop are numerous pots and pans and baking sheets, as well as a can opener. There are large bowls, wooden and metal spoons, a whisk, measuring spoons, and measuring cup. In the cupboards are many sets of plates, bowls, and cups, all in a white and navy paw print pattern, and there is a drawer containing organized sets of spoons, forks, butter knives, and steak knives. There is also a butcher's block with chef knives sitting on the counter. Another cupboard is stocked with chopsticks, tea, and tea ceremony equipment. Another cabinet is stocked with flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, plain rice, miso, dashi, mirin, and soy sauce, a spice rack, and salt and pepper mills.

A small door in the back leads into the pantry, which is small and dark. It is further stocked, mostly with canned fish, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, but also has cream puffs, more baking ingredients, more beer and coke, and more coffee beans. There are also fire flakes and fire gummies, chili, ash bananas, lychee nuts, ocean kumquats, and tomato-carrots.

There is also a large noodle stand in the back stocked with bowls, spoons, chicken broth, dried ramen, and a large amount of salt.

dining room

The first door to the left of the hallway leads to the dining room. The walls are painted an identical sky blue, and there are a few of the pretend 'windows' hung on the wall here - these showing a peaceful evening snowfall and a sunny forest scene respectively. The light in here seems mostly natural, but a little filtered. In the center of the room is a large, simple wooden table with seats for twenty-eight.

Towards the back, there is a large cat climbing tower made out of carpeting. The tower is filled with rattata shaped cat toys.

common area

The door just past the kitchen leads to a large and open common area. The walls are a sunny yellow stripe, with extremely fluffy white carpets on the ground, and the furniture is all a cool green. There are 'windows' hung up in here, as well, showing the night sky over a brightly lit city, a bright and hot desert, a storm in the middle of the ocean, and lightly falling rain over a vegetable garden.

Towards the back of the room, there is a large flat television set, with a remote control. If you turn it on, you find you can watch a few channels. There's the channel where a group of attractive young people smile and walk around and say complete non-sequiturs to one another, followed by canned laughter. There is the channel where sad and serious people say complete non-sequiturs to each other and occasionally crying or kissing or shouting. And there is the channel where some people in police uniforms are chasing other people and yelling about complete non-sequiturs. Next to the television is a stereo system and several albums, labeled 'Rock,' 'Classical,' 'R&B,' 'Jazz,' and 'Orchestral.' They all, when played, simply vary between mildly pleasant and calming melodies and loud and annoying screeching with thumping bass. There are chairs and a sofa set up near the television so you can watch or listen to music, as well as thirteen comfortable beanbags in various colors.

In the middle of the room is a table surrounded by comfortable chairs and couches. The tabletop opens, and inside contains several decks of cards, though there are no numbers on any of them, as well as a few boxes which each contain blank cardboard game boards, blank cards, die, colorful game pieces, and colored markers. There is also a box containing a game of Pai Sho and a chess set. Also towards the middle of the room is a foosball table.

greenhouse

A door to the right of the hallway, past the dining room, leads to a large greenhouse. The walls are made of glass, but in some ways look a little like the 'windows' that have been hung around. Outside the greenhouse is simply a plain, grassy area. The weather alters between sunny and rainy. The color of the sky outside seems to reflect the time of day, with the sun rising and setting to a time that generally maps the hours everyone is awake, and with a moon and stars hanging in the air at night. Still, though the light is bright and feels natural, there's a somewhat artificial quality to it.

Inside the greenhouse, the air is pleasantly warm. There is a dirt track circling around the edges of the greenhouse, perfect for walking or jogging. Inside the track, there is a spacious grassy area decorated with bright red, pink, and yellow flowers. Towards the far side of the track is a small pond, stocked with large koi fish. Of course, if you try to reach into the pond or catch one of the fish, you'll find that the scatter before you can touch any of them.

There is a small door at the very back of the greenhouse. A cloth has been hung over the door so you can't see inside. There is also a gated area at the back.

lake

You can now step 'outside' the greenhouse using a door on the right, although it's still surrounded by glass walls and ceiling. The grassy field slopes into a large lake that seems to go on indefinitely; however, if you swim or take a boat about a quarter of a mile out, you'll bump into a glass wall. There's also a dock leading into the lake where five canoes are tied; the oars can be found within the canoe. If you peer down into the lake at the shallower end, you might be able to see a few fish swimming around, but they'll scatter before you're able to touch them.

Surrounding the lake is a sandy beach. There are beach umbrellas and beach towels set up along it, as well as a large box full of beach toys like beach balls, inflatable cat-shaped rafts, and toy shovels with bucket castles. There are also various seashells scattered all over the beach, though they seem artificial on close examination.

graveyard

A small door in the back of the greenhouse leads to this area. The floor is grassy here, but there seem to be curtains hung up as walls. A small grave marker sits for each person who has died here; every time a death is discovered, a new marker with their name appears. At the back of the room is a fairly simple Japanese-style altar. There are incense or candles to burn, as well as flowers stocked to place on the graves - white chrysanthemums, lilies, carnations, and roses.

Set out on the altar are photographs of everyone who has died.

austria's garden

Near the back of the greenhouse is a gated off area. The gate is made of wrought iron and is very tall, although you can look inside. The gate itself locks, and can only be opened with a key found on Austria's person. Inside the gated area is a walking path lined with trees. There is also a large, ornate fountain and several beautiful statues. To the side of the fountain are a few benches, and there is a little seating area off to the side. All over the garden are beautiful flowers. There is also a little shed filled with gardening tools, gardening clothes, catnip seeds, and potted catnip plants.

motorcycle area

Off to the left of the greenhouse, you can enter a long, narrow, concrete tunnel - about a quarter mile in length. There are no lights in here, so it is pitch dark. There is a motorcycle sitting near the entrance, and anyone can attempt to ride it.

It isn't filled with gas, but at the other end of the quarter mile is a small filling station. You would have to walk it there to fill it up.

second floor

The stairs up from the first floor lead to another identical hallway, this one painted green, with windows showing a barren snowy landscape at midnight, a dreary, rocky beach at dawn, autumn trees sunny and bright at noon, and a sunset over a large mountain lake.

pink bedroom

The first door on the left leads to the pink bedroom. The door locks automatically, and must be opened with a key. The walls in this room are rose pink, with 'windows' showing rose gardens. The carpets are white and incredibly soft. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There are five spacious wooden canopy beds, with purple curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The beds each have four very soft pillows, and a large soft comforter decorated in a delicate pink floral pattern. There is a stuffed otterpenguin toy in a pink bandana on every bed, and the bed owner's name is embroidered on the bandana.

At one side of the room is a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Inside the chest of drawers and wardrobe is an eclectic assortment of clothing. At the other side is a desk with a lamp and some writing tools. In the corner, there is a little charging station for a small robot dog, and a tiny pink floral dog bed with purple canopy curtains. A sign on the door reads 'Boys Only.'

blue bedroom

The first door on the right leads to the blue bedroom. The door locks automatically, and must be opened with a key. The walls in this room are sky blue, with 'windows' showing ocean scenes. The carpets are white and incredibly soft. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There are five spacious wooden canopy beds, with purple curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The beds each have four very soft pillows, and a large soft comforter decorated in a delicate blue floral pattern. Underneath the pillow of one of the beds is a men's dress shirt and pants.

At the other side is a desk with a lamp and some writing tools.

bathroom a

Just past the first two bedrooms, on the right, is a bathroom. Inside, you'll find a toilet, a bathtub/shower, and a sink. All are fairly undecorative, but in fine working order. There is also a roll of toilet paper that never runs out, and fourteen fluffy towels on a rack. There are toothbrush holders with fourteen toothbrushes and a tube of toothpaste. There is a pink box with pink combs, brushes, and pink and red hair ties and headbands for every boy; the owner's name is labeled on the box. There are also fifteen deodorants in the bathroom. There are fifteen brushes and combs, two pairs of hair cutting scissors, and a bunch of hair rollers, hairpins, hair tongs, hairspray, and hair gel. There is also a comfy chair and full length mirror. The walls are a pale mint green and the floor boring tile. There is also a litterbox in the corner.

bathroom b

This bathroom is across the hall from bathroom a, and is a little more spacious. There are three shower stalls with curtains covering the door; inside is a narrow standing shower. There is shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap in each stall. There are also three locking stalls with toilets and endless toilet paper dispensers in each. There is a pink box with pink combs, brushes, and pink and red hair ties and headbands for every girl; the owner's name is labeled on the box. There are also fifteen deodorants in the bathroom.

Along the other side of the wall are three sinks and three mirrors. There is a toothbrush holder on each sink, each holding five toothbrushes. There is a tube of toothpaste in a white container next to each holder, as well as a dish with handsoap in it. Underneath each sink is a cabinet stocked with tampons, pads, an endless roll of paper towels, floss, and extra towels. There are fifteen fluffy towels, fifteen washcloths, and fifteen hand towels in the room in all, all a muted peppermint pink. The room is fairly bare, and all the toiletries some unknown generic brand, but it's clean and everything works well. The walls are painted a cheerful bright pink.

green bedroom

The door past the bathrooms on the left leads to the green bedroom. The door locks automatically, and must be opened with a key. The walls in this room are mint green, with 'windows' showing forest scenes. The carpets are white and incredibly soft. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There are five spacious wooden canopy beds, with purple curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The beds each have four very soft pillows, and a large soft comforter decorated in a delicate green floral pattern.

At the other side is a desk with a lamp and some writing tools.

yellow bedroom

The door past the bathrooms on the right leads to the yellow bedroom. The door locks automatically, and must be opened with a key. The walls in this room are pale yellow, with 'windows' showing tulip gardens. The carpets are white and incredibly soft. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There are five spacious wooden canopy beds, with purple curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The beds each have four very soft pillows, and a large soft comforter decorated in a delicate yellow floral pattern. There is a stuffed otterpenguin toy in a pink bandana on every bed, and the bed owner's name is embroidered on the bandana. One of the beds now has a black banner with an embroidered stylized silver six hanging above it.

At one side of the room is a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Inside the chest of drawers and wardrobe is an eclectic assortment of clothing. At the other side is a desk with a lamp and some writing tools.

red bedroom

Down the hall a little ways, on the left, is the red bedroom. The door locks automatically, and must be opened with a key. The walls in this room are blood orange, with 'windows' showing apple orchards. The carpets are white and incredibly soft. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There are five spacious wooden canopy beds, with purple curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The beds each have four very soft pillows, and a large soft comforter decorated in a delicate red floral pattern.

A sign on the door reads 'Girls Only.'

iceland's room

Down the hall a little ways, on the right, is Iceland's bedroom. There is a sign on the door that says 'Iceland.' The bedroom locks, and can only be opened with two keys, which Iceland will find in his pockets. Inside, there are two full-sized beds with sheets, pillows, and blankets, although they aren't nearly as soft and comfortable as the beds in the other rooms. There is a full-sized desk with a chair, a lamp, a notebook, pens, and pencils. There is a window that shows a stormy ocean during the day and an aurora over the ocean at night. Unlike other windows, the quality of light changes with the time of day just like the greenhouse. There is also a dim overhead light and a lightswitch on the wall.

There are also two dressers, both filled shirts, jackets, and pants in white, blue, and brown, white underwear, and brown and white Lopapeysa as well as cat pajamas. One dresser has these clothes in Iceland's size, and the other Norway's. The walls are painted beige, and the floor is wooden. There is a stuffed otterpenguin toy in a pink bandana on both beds.

sewing room

Past the bedrooms, to the left, is a little sewing room. Inside, there is a large table with a nice new sewing machine plugged into the wall. There are also organized bins containing needles, colorful thread, knitting needles, and colorful balls of yarn. There are piles of neatly folded fabric set out in boxes - cotton, polyester, silk, mesh, laces, fleece, and wool. There is also a basket with paper in different colors and sizes, glue, a glue gun, and wire. The door locks from the inside.

laundry room

Across the hall from the sewing room is a laundry room. Inside is a set of two washing machines and two dryers. There are cabinets in which you will find detergent, bleach, and dryer sheets.

third floor

Go upstairs from the second floor, and you'll find yourself in the hallway on the third floor. The walls here are pale purple, with windows hung showing an ornate garden fountain, a nighttime fireworks show, a blindingly bright desert oasis, and a dimly lit urban alley.

library

The first door on the left leads to a large and beautiful library. There are beautiful wooden bookshelves covering the walls, and a small, pleasant sitting area with soft green furniture and tables. The room is lit by soft lamps. The books are divided by genre - there is a wall labeled 'mystery,' a wall labeled 'fantasy,' a wall labeled 'literature,' and a wall labeled 'reference.' The books in the shelves look almost like props though - they are all identical, thickly bound, colorful hardcovers with nothing written on them. Inside the fictional books, the pages are either blank or a gibberish array of letters. The reference books are full, but there are no words, only pictures. You're likely to find books full of pictures of your home world, or even possibly people you know.

music room & studio

Across the hall from the library is the music room. The walls are plain white, as is the carpet. In the center of the room stands a fancy Bösendorfer piano. Inside the room, you'll also find a collection of acoustic and electric guitars, a violin, a drumset, and a keyboard, all of very high quality. Towards the back of the room, there is a door.

Through the door is a recording studio. Inside, there is a mixing console, microphones, a multitrack recorder, and a sheaf of empty sheet music. The recording studio is dark and windowless on the inside, though is lit by dim ceiling lights. The door between the music room and the recording studio can be locked from the inside, and the recording studio is completely soundproof when the door is locked.

fire nation tea room

Past the library is a small tea room. The door locks from the inside. There are wooden floors and screens with flame designs. There are windows on the wall that depict scenes from the Fire Nation; the quality of the light changes with the time of day. In the center of the room is a low table with comfortable red cushions around it. In the corner of the room is a small cabinet with a tea kettle, a small heater, loose leaf tea, teacups, trays, and some biscuits and crackers. There are also serving trays with a flame pattern.

infirmary

Past the music room is a door leading to the infirmary. Inside there is a main room, with plain white walls and sterile cabinets. Inside the cabinets, you'll find painkillers, decongestants, cough medicine, cough drops, antihistamines, eye drops, stomachache medicine and calamine lotion, as well as bandaids, compress dressings, medical tape, gauze pads, scissors, a cold compress, antibiotic ointment, a couple of thermometers, tweezers, and an eyeglass repair kit. There are also a few flashlights with batteries inside. Towards the back is a large Pokemon healing machine.

There is a small door at the back of the infirmary, which leads to a short hallway. In this hallway, there are doors leading to three identical rooms. Each has plain white walls and brown carpet, and inside there is a simple narrow bed. The rooms are lit by a lamp sitting on top of a nightstand. There is nothing else inside the rooms, and they're very small, but they do lock from the inside.

candy room

Past the tea room is a small room that is made entirely out of candy. The furniture consists of a fruit leather couch stuffed with cotton candy, a butterscotch cabinet, a toffee table, and two dark chocolate chairs. Within the cabinet is what appears to be several bottles of wine, but the 'glass' being wine-flavored hard candy and the liquid within being melted chocolate. There's also a drawer in the cabinet within which you can find a variety of kitchen utensils, all made out of taffy, and a collection of chocolate mugs filled with peanut butter. In the corner of the room is a small potted tree with mint chocolate leaves, licorice bark, and gummy worm roots buried in chocolate cookie crumble soil. Each gummy wall in the room is a different color and tastes of strawberry, orange, lemon and watermelon respectively. Finally, no matter how much of the room is eaten, it will restore itself back to normal every morning.

lower level

If you go down from the first floor hallway, you'll find yourself in the lower floor. This floor, despite being only a short flight of stairs down from the main floor, seems to be absurdly large. There is a long row of doors to go through across the hall from the stairs.

pool area

The pool area, seemingly contrary to the small flight of stairs you took down here, is a vast open space, with a sixty foot high ceiling. Inside is a very, very large pool. The end closest to the stairway is three feet deep, but at the far end, the pool is about thirty feet deep. There is a tall diving board at the deep end, and ladders all around the pool. Inside the pool, there are pool noodles, inflatable rings, inflatable pool chairs, and some heavy rings that sink to the bottom of the pool. The pool is filtered and chlorinated, and is cleaned by a pool skimmer.

The pool area is ringed by plain white lounge chairs. Near the shallow end are two cloth changing stalls. Inside one, you'll find swim trunks in a variety of sizes and colors. Inside the other, you'll find women's bathing suits in a variety of sizes, colors, and styles.

exercise & training room

Past the pool area, there is a large indoor gym. In the first room are a few treadmills, bikes, freestanding weights. Past the weights and machines room is a door leading to a very large area covered in mats. There are a variety of climbing obstacles on the floor, and there is a small flight of stairs in the back that leads to a tightrope twenty feet above the ground and a trapeze. Underneath both, there is a safety net. The walls in this room are made of glass at the very top, letting in sunlight, and everything is bright red and yellow and covered in draping fabric so it looks a little like a circus tent.

field

Another door leads to what looks like a large outdoor field, although it's surrounded by walls and closed in by a ceiling. The field is large enough to use for playing soccer, but off to one side there is also a baseball diamond, and surrounding the field is a dirt track. On another side, there's a tennis court with a net set up. At the very back, there is a shed filled with sports equipment - bats, balls, gloves, racquets, clothes, and shoes, as well as bases and goals that can be set up to play a game. There is even a scoreboard, although you'll have to write in the score yourself with chalk.

There is now also a small wooden kiddie rollercoaster at the end of the field. The tracks consist of a single connected loop with two hills around twenty feet high. There are only two carts on the rollercoaster, each seating two people, that consistently go around the track all day.

weapons training room

Off to the side of the field is a small room. There are targets set up at one end of the room. At the other are an array of weapons - throwing knives, several varieties of sword, and archery equipment. There are also some training swords and training bows.

bouncy catstle

On one end of the field is an enormous inflatable cat head. Entering through the back leads to a bouncy room big enough to house several adults at once. You can exit the area by using the cat's "tongue" as a small slide.

hot springs

Behind this door, you find yourself in a small hallway with stone floors and glass overhead showing a starry night sky. There are two doors - one labeled 'girls' and one labeled 'boys.' Go through the door and you'll find yourself in a small, very pink changing room. Inside the changing room are fluffy pink robes and slippers and fluffy pink towels. There are also three narrow shower stalls with a pink curtain on each stall. At the end of the changing area is another door.

Past the door, you'll find yourself in what seems like a typical hot springs. The area is fairly spacious, surrounded completely by tall stone walls. There's a little room to walk around the edge, but the water area is large enough for a number of people to soak at one time, and the water is steamy and hot. The ceiling appears to be a starry night sky, although if you tried to climb the walls you'd find that it's made of glass. The air is pleasantly cool. There is also a large stone wall dividing the girls and boys side.

aquarium

This is a very large room made entirely of glass, aside from a wooden walkway through the center. Beyond the glass walls, you seem to be situated somewhere in a cold ocean. It's hard to tell just how deep you are; from the space closest to the door, you can see at certain (mostly random) times during the day glimmers of light above you and the ocean floor about ten feet below you, but as you walk down the hallway, the ocean gets deeper and darker. You'll be able to see sea life around you, mostly comprised of animals from the Arctic and North Atlantic oceans. The glass walls have that same somewhat artificial quality as the other windows, however; the glass isn't cold, and if you happened to tap on it, none of the animals nearby seem to respond.

roller skate park

Through this door, you find yourself in a large skating park. You can watch people skate from behind a plexiglass wall, and there are a few benches for sitting but there is also a cabinet filled with roller blades and skating equipment for everyone. Past the plexiglass wall is a smooth, flat concrete area, but you can also choose to take a few paths, ramps, and tunnels. Some of the paths have obstacles to avoid, and some paths have ledges for you to try to do tricks off of.

bowling alley

Next to the skating park is a door that leads into a small bowling alley. There are three lanes set up, along with a rack of bowling balls ranging from five to fifteen pounds. Each lane has the standard ten pins at the end, and a mechanism will automatically replace the pins once they've been knocked down.
